Mark your calendar for Sunday November 2 and get your kids down to Destin.

Once a year Harbor Docks Charities hosts the Take-A-Kid Fishing Day. Whether your kids love to fish or just want to learn and have a great time this annual event is sure to please.

Destin’s finest charter boats take the kids out in the Gulf of Mexico and the Choctawhatchee Bay. Last year 59 boats took over 300 kids and nearly 100 chaperons out for a day of fishing fun.

The day starts at 6am at Harbor Docks Restaurant with breakfast. After breakfast the kids load onto the boats to head out. They fish for the day with Destin’s best charter captains and learn some great tips for pulling in the big ones.

Mingo, triggerfish, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel and some small shark are some of the fish the kids catch on their adventure.

The kids return to around lunch time to enjoy a fish fry on the Big Deck at Harbor Docks. To top the day off they receive a rod and reel of their own to take home.

The event is for children ages 7 to 13. To make a reservation or get additional information call Harbor Docks at 837-2506 and ask for Jackie, Gina or Becky, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday. Pre-registration is required.
