What’s the difference between Destin and Miramar Beach?

In the years back everything from Destin to scenic highway 30A was considered Destin. During this time there actually wasn’t much out here except the crystal clean waters and beautiful white sandy beaches. Once the city started thriving in when things started to change and grow.

“The Destin Fishing Rodeo” all started in 1948 which put Destin on the map for “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”. Currently, Destin harbors one of the largest fishing fleet in all of the Gulf of Mexico. All of this brought a lot of attention to the area and starting in 1970 is when the high rise condos, fancy dining and spectacular golf courses began to show up.

In 1987 “The Emerald Coast Parkway” was completed which connected Destin to Miramar Beach. Miramar Beach didn’t even exist until this road was fully constructed. Once this happened it put Miramar Beach on the map and that’s when the area got it’s own zip code too!

When you think of Miramar Beach now luxurious hotels, high rise condos and designer shopping all come to mind. The area has blossomed into a gorgeous community which offers exclusive amenities and amazing cuisine.

When you hear Destin now you think about all the fun activities like Big Kahunas, Crab Island, The Harborwalk and the gorgeous beaches of course. Destin has grown into a major destination spot from when it once was a sleepy fishing village.

This area is full of surprises and when you are visiting here you will not go a day without a new adventure to partake in or a new beach, restaurant or boutique to explore.
