This is a big weekend for Christmas parades in Destin!

While the Destin Boat Parade on the 14th may get the lion’s share of attention from visitors, the City of Destin’s 30th Annual Christmas Parade is also one to mark on your calendar!

This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Trees & Memories, Celebrating Destin’s 30 Years.” The super family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 10 am.

The floats will start at the Downtown Destin Shopping Center and travel west down Harbor Blvd. to Nightown on Stahlman Avenue. Arrive early to the north side of Harbor Blvd. to watch the floats. Visit www.cityofdestin.com for more information.

Per another local tradition, Santa will arrive by fire truck at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar to kick off their 2014 Winter Market going on from 9 am to 4 pm.

More than 50 local artists, crafters and vendors with a sleigh full of fresh homemade food will be on hand to kick local holiday shopping into high gear!

 

After the Christmas Parade, AJ’s will host their traditional Lunch with Santa.

 

There will be a sing-a-long with Cheryl Jones playing holiday songs with many instruments for the kids to play along, face painting by “Arts on the Beach,” Christmas kids’ crafts by Home Depot, cookie decorating, treats from Bass Pro Shops & Build-A-Bear Workshop, and plenty more surprises!

Children will get to make out their Christmas wish list and “mail” it from the big red mailbox to the big guy at the North Pole or present it in person on Santa’s lap.
