Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra

The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra is starting its 28th season this month and it is going to be a great year.

Being such an art loving community Destin guests and residents love a night out at the symphony.

On Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The Northwest Florida Symphony introduces.“CZECH IT OUT!” an all-Czech program featuring Smetana’s beloved tone poem The Moldau and Dvorák’s magnificent Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville will host the event.

Guest Artist Sergey Antonov, the 2007 Tchaikovsky International Competition Gold Medal Winner, will be joining this years orchestra. In a review of Antonov in May 2013,  Elisa Birdseye for Classical-Scene noted that he was:

“An artist of great warmth and musical brilliance . . .Antonov plays with near technical perfection and a fully mature sense of line. He is passionate or delicate where required, emotional without being sentimental, and generally just beautiful . . . When deep into the demanding physical parts of the music, sweaty and hair flying, he could easily walk onto the set of the TV drama True Blood as a powerful, other-worldly entity . . . (with his) chiseled good looks.”

To purchase Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra concert tickets, contact the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Box Office by phone at (850) 729-6000 or visit their website.  NFSO Concert tickets are $25 each adult and $18 for Active Duty Military and their guests. Youth age 18 and younger are also $18 each. NWFSC students may request one free ticket per student ID in person from the Box Office, space permitting.

Music Director and Conductor Jeffrey Rink will be leading this years orchestra.  He is a faculty member at NWF State College, and holds the Mattie M. Kelly Distinguished Endowed Teaching Chair in Music and Orchestral Conducting.  He says it is going to be a great year for the Symphony.
